Maj. Dave Daigle (U.S. Army retired) is a second-generation career Army officer who grew up in Green Cove Springs. He graduated from Clay High School in 1976 before graduating from Loyola University with a bachelor’s degree. He also earned a master’s degree from Michigan State University and later taught English at the U.S. Army Military Academy at West Point, NY.
Daigle’s military career included numerous leadership roles including commanding a tank company with the 3rd Infantry Division in Germany, service with the Army’s Special Operations European Command in Stuttgart, and service as national director of the U.S. Armor Association. He is Airborne and Air Assault qualified and held a top-secret security clearance.
After retiring from the Army, Daigle took a position with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) where he worked to support teams fighting infectious diseases, deploying on overseas assignments during infectious disease outbreaks in places like Thailand, Nigeria, Brazil, and Sierra Leone. He won numerous national awards for his work with the CDC.
Daigle returned to Green Cove Springs in 2023 to help care for his mother Jane Daigle who passed last year. He’s now retired from the CDC and settled back into his childhood home on St. Johns Avenue.
Upon returning to Green Cove, Daigle volunteered as a Clay County elections worker and with the local chapter of the American Red Cross. He also became acutely interested in the GCS master planning process and decided that -- as a recent retiree -- he had capacity to serve his community and hometown in an elected leadership position. This interest compelled him to enter the race for a GCS city council seat.
Daigle is the oldest of six siblings who all graduated from Clay High School. He is a father of four grown children and has been married to his wife Joan for more than 30 years. He grew up attending Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Green Cove Springs (now located in Fleming Island) where he and his wife still regularly attend services.
